2015 was an extensive “Motorsports Year” for me. I went to:
- (1) NHRA Mello Yello drag race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, AZ
- (9) drag races at Music City Raceway in Goodlettsville, TN
- (4) drag races at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY
- (7) stock car races at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN
- (1) stock car race at Highland Rim Speedway in Greenbrier, TN
- (2) Amped Up kart races at Frirgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN
- (1) visit to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY
- (1) visit to the Kars for Kids Car Show in Brentwood, TN
Of the 7000+ photographs I took in 2015 over 75% of them were at those 26 races, automotive museums or car shows.
I had planned on going to Beech Bend for their season endiong race however it was cancelled. So, as I sit here and reflect back on the year I realize that it doesn’t really matter because I’ve got a year’s worth of memories to look back on. Twenty-four races, hundreds of race cars, and enough noise and smoke to kill a horse. And I loved every minute of it. NHRA starts back up in early February and I already have tickets for their second race in Phoenix! Plus, I might drive over to the Lane Motor Museum for a few hours since it’s just across town!

FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY – NASHVILLE, TN |
I didn’t take photographs at every race I went to at Fairgrounds Speedway this year. I don’t take photographs of race cars in action when I have to use a flash, drivers have enough to worry about without someone firing a flash in their faces, and since most of these were night races I only took my camera to a few of them. There is enough light here to get some halfway decent available light shots, but in all honesty it’s not worth the effort. |
