Today would be spent heading generally south toward Phoenix. It wouldn’t be a direct route because we stopped for National Park Passport Stamps at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area / Rainbow Bridge National Monument (both right outside Page, AZ), Wupatki National Monument, Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, Walnut Canyon National Monument, and Montezuma Castle National Monument. These brought our stamp total for the trip up to 27 dated stamps plus a couple of undated “Bonus” Stamps! Not a bad haul at all!

We bailed off of I-17 in favor of Highway 89A and headed into Sedona, AZ for lunch. After that we made a beeline straight down I-17 into Phoenix just in time to meet the third member of our trio as she left her office. We unloaded the bikes, had some supper, were treated to a stunning southwest sunset, and this 2,944 mile section of the trip was finished. It isn’t over yet though! One day of rest tomorrow and then it’s off to the Grand Canyon on Saturday!
