Saturday morning the three of us piled in the car and headed north once again. Our plans were to spend the night in Williams, AZ and then visit the Grand Canyon on Sunday. The ride up I-17 really looked familiar, perhaps since I had just been on it headed the other way a couple of days previously. Once again we stopped in Sedona, AZ for lunch and then continued north up Highway 89A to Flagstaff and then back on I-17. Some of the photos below were taken from the car so they might not be as clear as I’d like. Others were taken at the Redrock Information Center just south of Sedona and the remainder in and around Sedona, AZ. |

We spent the night at the Red Rock Hostel north of Williams, AZ. This is a nice place, especially for a hostel, since it is an old motel that has been turned into a hostel. The sun was starting to set as we checked in and as usual we were treated to a spectacular southwest sunset before supper. |

We drove back into Williams, AZ for supper and to my surprise I accomplished another one of my long-term goals. Main Street in Williams, AZ is part of the original Route 66, and I have long wanted to see part of that historic route. The hostel we stayed at in Albuquerque, NM was also on the original Route 66 but that area didn’t seem to be as “Authentic” as Williams did. |

After supper we headed back to the hostel for some rest. Tomorrow is the Grand Canyon. AGirl’s ride report for this date is at This Page |
